2013 ANNUAL MEETING : Thirty-Nine people representing 32 properties attended on Aug. 24 at Station #3. Bi-annual elections were held resulting in the following positions: Bill Harper- president; 1 st vice president-Bernie Mann; 2 nd vice president- Ric Turley; Treasurer- Jon Klima; Secretary- Nancy Harper. TREASURER’S REPORT: Current balance as of meeting- $13,286.75 before paying for 32 loads of gravel at about $7000. Four new grader tires were purchased and accounted for in that figure.
ROADS: This past winter brought us more snow than we have seen in the last few years. Many thanks to those who volunteered to plow; including Dylan Anderson, Eric Kellogg, Leslie Thomas, Dave Tilton, Jon Klima, Bernie Mann and Larry LePage-who got back just in time to help on one of our Spring storms!
More snow has meant more melting and run-off onto the roads, resulting in more than average mud and ruts. Those who know more than I about road construction have told me that merely dumping larger rocks into the wet mud results in having the rocks sink into the muck without building up the roads and later having the rocks swept aside when grading out the ruts. Therefore we must wait until the roads are relatively dryer to grade, and only then adding appropriate gravel to the needed areas to build the roads up. We try to add the gravel when some moisture is present to have traffic pound them into place into the road. Oh, the joys of high country living! If any of our winter residents need to have the roads plowed for regular scheduled medical needs, kindly let us know so that we can do our best to make it happen.

feeder roads that are not normally plowed, please call me ahead of time to arrange for special plowing of PTRIA roads as volunteers and their equipment are available. Remember, winter snow plowing of PTRIA roads is not covered by dues!
FISH PONDS: Jon measured the upper trout pond just after the ice went out and it has risen 10 inches from last year’s level after dredging. Therefore both the upper and lower ponds have been stocked with trout. See pictures on web site! All dues paying members and their guests will be able to fish on our private land without a state license. Catch and release please, unless the fish swallows the hook completely, then bon appetite!
GRENERAL: The Board has continued to work with acting Fire Chief Aaron Mandel to set up a slash-burning day at fire station Three. With new state laws and procedures being currently re-written, it will probably not occur until August. Those paid members who have slash-piles and are willing to help load wood onto trailers for hauling to the station, are asked to fill out the form on the dues sheet so that we can contact you when final arrangements are made.
We hope to make this slash-burning at least an annual event to help reduce fire fuels (and prevent rising home insurance rates) on the ranch. Additional information about reflective address signs, clearing fire defensive areas around your house, chimney cleaning and preparations for extended fire seasons are available at station One in town, 719-689-9479. Also, Fire Department staff will even come to your property to do a free evaluation at your request! (Providing that your property is signed up with the fire department)—contact the Park County Assessors office with questions at 719-836-4331. BE PREPARED! FIGHT FIRE AHEAD OF TIME!
Several members at the last annual meeting asked to have a barbecue after our meeting this year. PTRIA will provide meat, water & coffee. Members will bring chairs, other non-alcoholic drinks and a dish to pass. Bernie and other interested members can bring you instruments for a sing-along too!
